Frequently Asked Questions

In most states, consumers can electronically verify their eligibility during the application process through the National Verifier. However, if you're not listed in the database or reside in CA or TX, you'll need printed proof from participating programs to qualify for Lifeline. This documentation must be issued within the last 12 months or have an expiration date aligning with the benefit period. Additionally, you'll need an unexpired, government-issued ID.
Your initial enrollment eligibility is valid for one year, provided you continue to meet the eligibility criteria. Subsequently, you'll need to renew your eligibility annually. The Universal Service Administration Company (USAC) will notify you when it's time to renew.
Only one Lifeline account per household is permitted. If you or a household member currently receives Lifeline service from a wireline or wireless carrier, you are ineligible for the program. However, you can transfer your Lifeline benefit from your current carrier to us. Please note, if you have a Lifeline discount on your landline service and switch to wireless, you may experience a change in your bill.
If you become ineligible for the Lifeline program, please contact us promptly. Upon de-enrollment, your phone will remain active, but you will no longer receive free airtime as part of the program. However, you can still add more minutes to your phone service via the website, our IVR, or through our retail locations. Your phone will stay active unless you go 60 consecutive days without using it, at which point your service will be terminated, and you will be disenrolled from the Lifeline program.
